I booked 2 nights at the Embassy apartments. On arriving we were allocated a room on the group floor at the back of the building. It was very small, dark but adequate. There was an overpowering smell of air freshener. By the following morning this had been replace by an overwhelming smell of damp. The wall in one corner had a patch of black mould and the bay was wet to the touch. The carpet and furnishings by the 2nd day felt cold. My shoes were damp.
I think the air freshener had been used to mask the damp smell. It was a truly unpleasant room. The cost for 2 nights was £155 -far too expensive. No way was this a 4* apartment and should not be let out in this condition.
On complaining we were quickly moved to a room at the front which was huge, clean, dry and more than acceptable.
Such a shame because it's a great location in the West End. Would stay again but would check room allocation first.
I will be taking this up with management.
My advice - Avoid room 2 or any room at the rear on the ground floor.
