Subject: Number 11 has changed

Comment: For 35 years I have been a confirmed client of Number 11. What a beautiful, very English, place which gave you the impression you were staying in a home and not a hotel. The service was always excellent with a very personal touch. While it was very pricy, it was well worth the money. We went back this weekend and found a very different Number 11. The place now is decorated more in the style of a haunted house (very black, deep red curtins, candles (normally a nice touch but simply made it look more sinster). The fact that there is now a "hotel front desk" has ruined the feeling you were in a house! The old staff is no longer there and the new staff, while very nice, lacked the professionalism of the previous staff. When I asked if the managment had changed the front desk clerk responded that it was now under new managment. I simply indicated that the style had really changed which may not be fully appreciated by the previous clients. She indicated that the new manager had in mind a "different clientelle". After going downstairs to the breakfast room and seeing the types of half nude photograps I began to understand.... I will not be going back to Number 11 and now need to find another hotel similar to the old Number 11 -- any ideas?
